These stunning hoop earrings are comprised of delicate beads in bronze, silver and copper colours and include sterling silver hooks.  The beads originate in the mountains of Northern Ethiopia, where farmers supply bead makers with artillery shells (from former war conflicts) that are found on their lands. Village artisans melt these shells down to produce handmade delicate beads and then they are sent to Entoto Mountain where a project employs women from the area. These women skilfully create beautiful jewellery in a loving, community environment.

About the Maker

Our upcycled jewellery supplier is based at Entoto Mountain, in the hillside looking over Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa.

This project employs female artisans who skillfully create our ‘Bullets to Beads’ jewellery range. Beads for this range are made from melted down artillery shells, from former war conflicts.

Women work in a loving, community environment, and what was once intended for harm now brings hope and beauty.
