Mekdes Bracelet

This exquisite bracelet has six strands of delicate beading in contrasting silver and copper tones.  The beads originate in the mountains of Northern Ethiopia, where farmers supply bead makers with artillery shells (from former war conflicts) that are found on their lands. Village artisans melt these shells down to produce handmade delicate beads and then they are sent to Entoto Mountain where a project employs women from the area. These women skilfully create beautiful jewellery in a loving, community environment.

Approximately 19cm in length with a loop closure.
