Woven from sisal fibre by women in Kenya. The fibres are dyed using natural materials and the quality of workmanship is exceptional. The bag has a leather and timber closure. Leather patch with the Hamlin logo. As with all handmade items, there may be some variations in colour.

Textiles are made for Hamlin in a workshop in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, employing 200+ artisans, many of them women.
Textiles are hand-made using cotton, linen and silk and techniques inspired by ancient weaving traditions. All dyes are made of local plants, herbs and natural products.
Sisal baskets are hand woven by women in rural Kenya. Many are subsistence farmers who use weaving to contribute to family income in dryer periods. The materials used are drought tolerant and suited to the arid regions where the women live. It can take up to a week to weave each basket.
