Maret Poncho - Slate & Tedy Earrings
Maret Poncho - Slate & Tedy Earrings
Skilled women in Ethiopia used a traditional loom to weave this garment from 100% locally-cultivated silk and hand-dye it using iron filings. Each poncho is unique with the colouring and texture varying depending on the artisan who created it.
Whether it’s for every day, a special night out, or travel, it’s the perfect accessory to effortlessly bring an outfit to life while also providing lightweight warmth, comfort, and coverage.
Talented Ethiopian women handcrafted these earrings from delicate beads made from recycled metals. The silver design features seven uniquely shaped beads per earring, for an accessory that will enhance and bring personality to any outfit.
Wear these earrings with pride knowing you are supporting both the Fair Trade jewellery project that hires underprivileged women to create them, as well as women who have suffered from obstetric fistula.
About the Maker
About the Maker
Two fantastic products in one great value bundle.
Textiles are made for Hamlin in a workshop in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, employing 200+ artisans, many of them women.
They are hand-made using cotton, linen and silk and techniques inspired by ancient weaving traditions. All dyes are made of local plants and herbs.
Our upcycled jewellery supplier is based at Entoto Mountain, in the hillside looking over Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa.
This project employs female artisans who skillfully create our ‘Bullets to Beads’ jewellery range from recyled metals. Some of the beads for this range are made from melted down artillery shells, from former war conflicts.
Women work in a loving, community environment, and what was once intended for harm now brings hope and beauty.
