Maret Poncho - Slate & Tedy Earrings

Our classic ponchos are a great light cover up. The Ethiopian eri silk is spun on the drop spindles by women artisans. The thread is then dyed in small batches using natural dyes. The sand color is created using coffee; the sage is dyed in onion skins and the slate uses iron. Each poncho is truely unique as the coloring and texture will vary, depending on the artisan who created it.  80 x 180cm  65% silk 35% cotton   $120

Tedy earrings bring a hint of Ethiopian style and a truckload of feel-good feelings to your jewellery collection. Crafted with seven beads for a 5cm long strand. In the mountains of Northern Ethiopia, farmers supply bead makers with artillery shells (from former war conflicts) that are found on their lands. Village artisans melt these shells down to produce handmade delicate beads and then they are sent to Entoto Mountain where a project employs women from the area. These women skilfully create beautiful jewellery in a loving, community environment. Handmade, fairtrade, fabulous design. $29
