Handmade using recycled metals, the Beamlak necklace features six separate strands of delicate silver coloured beads with a stunning large bead set off centre.  The recycled metals come from farmers who collect discarded artillery shells which local villagers transform into beads.  The beads are sent to Entoto Mountain, in Addis Ababa where a social enterprise project employs local women who might otherwise struggle to find work.  These artisans at skillfully create beautiful jewellery in a loving and community minded environment.

About the Maker

Our upcycled jewellery supplier is based at Entoto Mountain, in the hillside looking over Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa.

This project employs female artisans who skillfully create our ‘Bullets to Beads’ jewellery range. Beads for this range are made from melted down artillery shells, from former war conflicts.

Women work in a loving, community environment, and what was once intended for harm now brings hope and beauty.
