Handwoven Capes for Everyday Heroes

Handwoven Capes for Everyday Heroes

It is often said that "not all heroes wear capes," but the Hamlin Shop's new collection of handwoven capes and ponchos will definitely suit the hero in your life. Versatile, flattering and gorgeous, our new ponchos and capes will quickly become wardrobe staples for cooler months.

The Hamlin Shop's new capes and ponchos are lovingly handmade in Ethiopia, using environmentally-friendly dyes and are fair trade. These beautiful pieces make for a gorgeous Mothers' Day gift.

Anna Cape

A versatile piece, the Anna Cape can be worn as a cape, poncho or jacket. Each cape is ethically made in Ethiopia, using the same chain stitching technique found in ceremonial Ethiopian shawls. The vibrant colours and contrast chain stitching make the Anna Cape an eye-catching addition to your outfit.

Available in navy and merlot, you can find the Anna Cape here.

Kaba Cape

Woven by hand on a four-harness loom using 100% Ethiopian cotton, the Kaba Cape is a stunning winter wardrobe staple. Warm, cosy and stylish, the Kaba Cape is also incredibly versatile. It can be worn as an oversized scarf, a shawl for cool evenings, a jacket using the beautifully crafted buttons, or as a minimalist poncho.

Available in stone and slate colourways, the Kaba Cape is the perfect Mothers' Day Gift. Find the Kaba Cape here.

Maret Poncho

The Hamlin Shop's ponchos are perfect for transitional months. Light and wonderfully comfy, they are a great cover-up. The Maret Poncho is made from 65% eri silk and 35% Ethiopian hand-spun cotton. The Ethiopian eri silk is spun on drop spindles by female artisans. Then, using natural dyes, the thread is dyed in small batches.

You can purchase the Maret Poncho, in sage or slate, here.

Whether they're a gift for Mother's Day or a treat for yourself, the Hamlin Shop's capes and ponchos are must-haves. Explore the full range of ethical, fair trade fashion here.
