A Cuppa to Eradicate Fistula

A Cuppa to Eradicate Fistula

This year the Hamlin Sister Circle is helping to achieve Dr Catherine Hamlin’s dream of eradicating fistula... one cuppa at a time!  Your High Tea for Hamlin event can be as small or elaborate as you like - if it works for you, it works for us! Our beautiful collection of Hamlin African kitchen products will help you get started.

High Tea For Hamlin

High Tea for Hamlin is more than just a fundraiser. It is a beautiful way to connect with friends, coworkers, or family. Across Ethiopia, the custom is for women stop twice a day to participate in a coffee ceremony, connecting with their loved ones and culture.

This year when you register to hold a High Tea, you will become a part of the Hamlin Sister Circle. The aim of the Hamlin Sister Circle is to celebrate sisterhood by connecting with loved ones in support of women in Ethiopia.

Get Inspired!

Learn about the incredible work of Dr Catherine Hamlin and the team in Ethiopia. Your high tea event will raise funds to continue this impactful work.

Catherine's autobiography, 'The Hospital By the River', written with John Little, details her journey from medical student to pioneering surgeon, set against the backdrop of romance, migration, and civil war.

John Little's book 'Catherine's Gift' follows the stories of numerous patients and staff members at the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital. It is a fantastic insight into the human impact Catherine has made on the lives of so many.

Get Cooking!

Once you have been inspired to host a High Tea for Hamlin fundraiser, you need to get cooking for your guests!

If you are looking for inspiration, look no further than the Hamlin Spice and Recipe Booklet bundle. Hamlin Spice, known in Ethiopia as berbere, is a delicious addition to stews, soups and meats. The Recipe Booklet features recipes and photos from Desta Mender and Hamlin Hospitals.

You will need the freshest beans for your High Tea coffee. Hamlin Roast in 100% Ethiopian Fairtrade coffee beans roasted in Australia for maximum freshness. The smooth aroma will leave your guests asking for a second and third cup!
