A newly illustrated version of a well-known Ethiopian folktale about a cowherd and his sister. In exchange for a bag of money and four cows, Alemayu accepts a challenge from his master to spend the night alone on a mountain with nothing but a shemma for warmth. He survives the bitterly cold night by concentrating on a shepherd’s fire on another mountain. The master refuses to pay him, so Alemayu and his sister devise a plan to beat the master at his own game.
